Lt. Col. Grzegorz Piwowarczyk (Polish Armed Forces) is the co-author of Basic Instincts of Self-Defense. His first contact with combat sports was as an elementary school student enrolled in the local judo club, where he continued to train through his high school years.
During his studies at the College of Military Communications (1976-1979), his training become more intensive and he also undertook a systematic study of the theory of combat sports and martial arts. Lt. Col. Piwowarczyk continued intensive training and his study of theory during his service in military units and later during postgraduate studies at the Military Academy (1982-1985).
Lt. Col. Piwowarczyk also studied in the University School of Business (1996-1999) and trained with the civilian athletes there.
He stays in contact with leading athletes, coaches, and combat sports specialists from the University School of Physical Education in Warsaw and in Gdansk, with officials of combat sports organizations, and with hand-to-hand combat and self-defense specialists, especially those of the Center for Police TrainingDepartment of Tactics and Techniques of Intervention.
Lt. Col. Piwowarczyk is often invited to work as a security consultant and self-defense instructor. In these capacities he collaborates with selected security agencies.
